Prof. Iris started her education in the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Indonesia and was later awarded her General Physician degree in 1983. She later obtained her specialization in Internal Medicine in 1994 from Universitas Indonesia and became a consultant in Allergy-Immunology in 2000 also from Universitas Indonesia. Peof Iris got the PhD title in 2009 from the Bogor Agricultural Institute with her research on Pollen Sensitivity on Patients with Respiratory Allergies and was later awarded the title of a Professor in 2019 from Universitas Indonesia.
Prof. Iris started her career in the Community Health Centre in South Jakarta from 1984 until 1994. She had done her fellowship in Internal Medicine at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta (1989 – 1994). After obtaining her specialization in internal medicine, she practiced in the Jakarta Hajj Hospital in East Jakarta (1995 – 1997). At present she practices as an Allergy and Clinical Immunology Consultant at a Private Hospital in Jakarta since 1998.
As of now, Prof. Iris is actively involved as the President of PP. PERALMUNI / Indonesian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (ISAI) and the General Secretary and Treasurer of Asia Pacific Association of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (APAAACI).
