APAAACI Presidential Message: May/June 2022

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

My heartiest greetings to all of you!

Air pollution is one of the greatest environmental risk factors and a major public health challenge especially for Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) including chronic respiratory diseases like asthma. Over 8-9 million deaths are reported annually due to air pollution and the resulting climate change and over 91% of the premature deaths occurs in low and middle income countries in the Asia Pacific regions. Mitigating climate change and reducing air pollution is key to the prevention of NCDs.

Among our many scientific, educational and advocacy initiatives, APAAACI is committed to addressing the issue of climate change and air pollution, through increased awareness, research, and concerted efforts with governments and related NGO’s. In this context in month of May, APAAACI successfully organized APAAACI Allergy Week 2022.
