APAAACI Presidential Message: January/February 2021

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We wish you a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year 2021.

I would like to start by thanking the APAAACI Board of Directors, our committee chairs and members, Web Editors, APA Journal Editor and Editorial Board and our National Member societies for their valuable contributions during these challenging times.

Despite this global crisis, as we start the year 2021, its time for us to set new goals. We have an exciting line up of activities to look forward to.

APAAACI’s Recommendations on Adverse Reactions to COVID-19 Vaccines

The APAAACI COVID-19 Task force has developed the APAAACI Recommendations on Adverse Reactions to COVID-19 Vaccines, and online module for HCPs and web lectures / panel discussions with regional and global leaders. The Taskforce is constantly engaged in updating the latest news, information from health authorities and regulatory bodies, publications, and information on vaccines as it emerges. APAAACI 2021 International Conference Joint TAAACI

I would like to invite you to please join us at the APAAACI 2021 International Conference Joint TAAACI that will take place in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan from October 15-17 this year.

APAAACI is proud to join hands with the Taiwan Academy of Allergy Asthma and Clinical Immunology (TAAACI) to organize the APAAACI International Conference. Together we are preparing an outstanding scientific program spread over two and a half days with preconference workshops, plenaries, symposia, oral abstracts, posters, pro-cons. It will be a major event in our region as a combined effort of the 2 organizations. More details here

APAAACI 2022 Congress Joint PSAAI@50

Following ahead we are also preparing for the APAAACI 2022 Congress Joint PSAAI@50 in Manila, Philippines, 1-4 October, 2022. This Congress will be jointly hosted by APAAACI and the Philippine Society of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (PSAAI). This will also be a golden jubilee celebration of the PSAAI. Together with PSAAI we will work toward an outstanding scientific program and a cultural treat. We look forward to seeing you all there next year. More details here

The COVID-19 Recommendations and Gateway to Contextualization collects trustworthy recommendations on COVID-19 for clinical, public health and health policy. APAAACI joins the Global Urticarial guideline initiative

The 6th Consensus Conference on the update and revision of the international EAACI/GA2LEN/EUROGUIDERM/APAAACI guideline for Urticarial took place in Berlin on 3 December. More recently, APAAACI joined as a founding partner of the guidelines and is represented by Amir HA Latiff, Michihiro Hide and Ruby Pawankar. Read More

Surveys

With the paucity of collation of regional data in many disease areas, the APAAACI Committees are currently in the process of compiling and finalizing the survey-based data generated and moving towards publishing the findings in our Asia Pacific Allergy Journal. In addition, several other projects are being initiated by the committees under the leadership of the committee chairs.

Highlights in Allergy

The highlights in Allergy provide updates from recent publications. These are intended to help you to keep up to date with evidence-based medical research when time is limited.

Asia Pacific Allergy (APA) Journal

The APA Journal, the official journal of APAAACI publishes clinical and experimental work relating to all aspects of adult and pediatric allergy and immunological diseases. In addition to original research, it also publishes educational articles, reviews, case reports and editorials. Read the current issue now

Finally, I would like to once again thank our Board of Directors, the committee chairs and members for their hard work and dedication. I also thank our member societies and our entire APAAACI community for sharing their time and expertise in our various initiatives. We also like to hear from our membership new ideas for increased collaboration.
